Adventures with terrariums

I have been wanting to make a terrarium since I saw these girls a couple of years ago at the Brooklyn Flea. Needless to say the idea just went in my crafting list/pile and though I didn’t actually forget, I did procrastinate. Finally this weekend I went down to the flower market, bought the last of my supplies, spread out my plastic and got  to work. They were so easy to make and I had the most fun making them.  I’m so happy with the result that I want to make terrariums for EVERYONE!! I love them! Maybe if you’re nice I’ll make you one too!

Me encantan! Si te portas bien te regalo una!

{1. Pick a container. Escoge un envase.}

{2. Choose your rocks. Escoge tus piedritas.}

{3. Dry moss for filtration. Musgo seco para filtrar.}

{4. Soil. Tierra.}

{5. Choose your plants (I used moss). Escoge tus plantitas (yo escogí musgo).}

Of course what made me obsess about these beauties were the miniatures living inside them.  Soooo when I found out that the ladies from Twig Terrariums had a book out I ordered it immediately and followed their instructions.  If you are going to be building a terrarium I recommend you use their book because they have the best instructions. They’re the experts!

{Girl with giant ladybug. Niña con una catarina enorme.}

{Couple by the lake. Pareja en el lago.}

{Rabbit hunting. Cazando conejos.}

{This will be my next one.  Esta será mi próxima.}

What do you think? Don’t you love them?? I hope my little terrariums make your monday happier!!

Have any fun holiday plans?

{Lovely & simple cupcake decoration. Linda y sencilla idea para decorar cupcakes.}

Well, we don’t! Ha! so far we don’t have any set plans for our day tomorrow (as usual). All we know is we’re hitting a museum in the morning (my request) and we’ll be closing the day off with some fireworks (I hope) …. and we’re meeting some friends in between.  I hope you have a wonderful, refreshing and safe day tomorrow. I leave you with some delicious looking treats and cute ideas for a patriotic party from my friend Martha Stewart (ALL images via her website!~ Click on picture to view recipe or instructions).

{Yummy!! Que rico!!}

{Don’t get excited, it’s the instructions for the flag, not the recipe!

Mini Valentine Making Party

After looking through the february issue of Living and finding the coolest little valentine making party,a couple of my friends and I decided to have our mini version of it at my place (since I have all the card making goods) and copy their dinner and dessert: Pizza sandwiches with arugula & basil salad and peanut butter and jam cookies!!  (their pics are way better than mine…I had loads of crappy lighting! sorry!)

So last thursday night we prepared all the goods for the pizza sandwiches and cookies and enjoyed a lovely dinner with champagne!  My friend Alisia’s engagement happened Wednesday night so the news called for a celebratory beverage…..which in my mind is ALWAYS ALWAYS champagne (or some kind of sparkling wine!).

{yum!}

{CHEERS! Congratulations Alisia & Jon!}

{Isn’t her ring pretty?}

{ready for some peanut butter & raspberry jam cookies?}

{so they’re a little fopped up, but they were pretty delicious!}

{card making gets intense!}

Have yourselves a Happy pre-Valentine’s weekend!

Besos!

Adiós dos mil diez, Hola dos mil once!

So many things happened in 2010, some good, some really good and of course some not so good ones. But all in all it was a pretty good year for us… here are the highlights….

1.We started the new year sick! (a souvenir from our Christmas trip to Mazatlan).

2.We celebrated our first wedding anniversary.  In Santa Barbara.

3. Nick started his business (he’s really talented!!)

4. I learned to cast!!

5. We went to Paris and NY. *sigh*

6. We went on a hot air balloon ride.

7. I chopped my hair off!

8. We learned to sew.

9. Yanessa B. passed the 150 sales mark! Yay!

10. After lots of prayer, we decided to move to NYC.

For this coming year we have lots of new adventures to look forward to and I’m thankful for that. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has planned for us and our family. I’m also really excited to get rid of a bunch of stuff in our moving cleanse! Yayy!! What do you have to look forward to??

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!!! I pray that 2011 brings you peace, joy and blessings galore. Thank you all for your support!

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace”

Numbers 6:24-26
