Adventures with terrariums

I have been wanting to make a terrarium since I saw these girls a couple of years ago at the Brooklyn Flea. Needless to say the idea just went in my crafting list/pile and though I didn’t actually forget, I did procrastinate. Finally this weekend I went down to the flower market, bought the last of my supplies, spread out my plastic and got  to work. They were so easy to make and I had the most fun making them.  I’m so happy with the result that I want to make terrariums for EVERYONE!! I love them! Maybe if you’re nice I’ll make you one too!

Me encantan! Si te portas bien te regalo una!

{1. Pick a container. Escoge un envase.}

{2. Choose your rocks. Escoge tus piedritas.}

{3. Dry moss for filtration. Musgo seco para filtrar.}

{4. Soil. Tierra.}

{5. Choose your plants (I used moss). Escoge tus plantitas (yo escogí musgo).}

Of course what made me obsess about these beauties were the miniatures living inside them.  Soooo when I found out that the ladies from Twig Terrariums had a book out I ordered it immediately and followed their instructions.  If you are going to be building a terrarium I recommend you use their book because they have the best instructions. They’re the experts!

{Girl with giant ladybug. Niña con una catarina enorme.}

{Couple by the lake. Pareja en el lago.}

{Rabbit hunting. Cazando conejos.}

{This will be my next one.  Esta será mi próxima.}

What do you think? Don’t you love them?? I hope my little terrariums make your monday happier!! Que les parecieron? No les encantan?? Espero que mis plantitas hagan su lunes un día feliz!!

Besos,

~mrs. B

Wishing, hoping, thinking and praying

As of this week our future move has become more official/real: we’ve given our 30 day notice that we’re moving out. So, God willing, we’ll be gone in slightly less than a month. I’m nervous, happy, sad, scared and excited all at the same time. Basically I’m a complete emotional mess. Over the last month I’ve been daydreaming of what our new place will be like, and in hopes of finding ideas I’ve been hunting online for cool room pictures and home ideas….. and of course only manage to find spaces I can only dream of having. Every now and then I find some things and spaces that may be possible…..here’s some of my favorites today.

{via: loving.living.small….this is actually her house}

I love some of her accents like the side table and lamp and her bookshelves. She also has good ideas for small spaces, so I check her blog often.

I often love their sneak peeks into peoples homes and I especially love this one! I love all of it!!

I love every room in this house!

We can all dream right?

We are on a crafty kick in our household!!! We decided to make our stockings.  I had wanted to make them for the last two years and just barely got around to doing so.  Nick made his from scratch since he’s now a professional sewer and I just embellished mine, but they look fabulous!!!!

Cute right?! We might make this a yearly thing….
