Lovely toes, music and sorbet

My recipe for enjoying summer….so far. Aquí les va mi receta para disfrutar el veranito rico.

Where did June go?? We’ve been having the loveliest weather here!! We really can’t believe it! And sunny days mean lots of open toed shoes. Sooo of course I took my toesies to get pampered yesterday. In the summer it’s a MUST! Pretty colors right? A donde se fué el mes de junio?? Saben…hemos tenido el clima más lindo aquí! No lo podemos creer! Y claro días soleaditos significan huarachitos lindos.  Así que ayer me fuí al salón a embellecer mis piesitos.  Es de ley en el verano! Que bonitos colores no?

 

You know what else is a summer MUST in my mind? Music. Summer concerts that is.  In our new city there’s always something to do…including amazing summer concerts. And so, as citizens of this town, we took ourselves down to the World Financial Center for an evening of awesome music. Rufus Wainwright + NY City Opera = pretty stinkin’ cool! Oh and did I mention it was free? Saben que otra cosa pienso que es de LEY para el verano? Música. Conciertos de verano.  En nuestra nueva ciudad nunca falta que hacer…incluyendo conciertos padrísimos.  Así que, como ciudadanos de este puebl0, fuimos al World financial center para un tardecita llena de música.  Rufus Wainwright + Ópera de NY = super padre! Ah y ya les dije que fue gratis?

And last but not least, no summer is complete without some form of refreshment.  Tonight it was a delicious sorbet on our way to the park.  Hubs had mango and raspberry and I had blood orange and coconut. Soooo good!! mmmm! My new favorite way to enjoy said sorbet is to sit on a bench in the park as we people watch all the athletes exercising while husband says to me: “this is our exercise…we walked here” as he takes a bite of his sorbet. Oh how I love him.  Y claro para cerrar, los veranos no son completos sin algo para refrescarse.  Esta noche fue un delicioso sorbet en camino al parque. Nico se pidió uno de mango con frambuesa y yo uno de coco con naranja sanguina. Suuuper ricosss!! mmm! Mi nueva forma favorita de disfrutar este sorbet es sentarnos en una banquita en el parque viendo a la gente atlética hacer ejercicio mientras mi esposo me dice: “este es nuestro ejercicio…..caminamos al parque” al comerse otra cucharada del sorbet. Ayy como lo amo!

Fave Pinterest Friday!

I’m so glad today is friday…why you may ask?? Because we have dinner plans with some friends. They are cooking for us and I’m salivating just thinking about the delicious burgers we’ll be enjoying thanks to our talented chef Mr. Haack. I’m also looking forward to meeting new friends at this dinner party! Estoy tan contenta que hoy es viernes….por qué, se preguntan?? Porque tenemos planes para cenar con amigos.  Ellos van a cocinar y se me hace agua la boca con solo pensar en las hamburguesas deliciosas que vamos a disfrutar gracias a nuestro chef talentoso el Sr. Haack.  Tambien estoy emocionada de conocer a nuevos amigos en esta cenita.

New stuff and SALE!

First off…I hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Bag lady

Three times within the last few weeks I’ve read/heard about all the stuff that women keep in their purses.

First, I read a magazine article (fine! it was OK magazine while I was getting my nails done), then I got an email telling me that J.Crew is going to start doing “The handbag shop: Case study” which will take a look at a staffers bag each month, AND I also saw it on an episode of the Nate Berkus show.  He said he couldn’t believe that we always carry these giant purses and wondered what exactly we have inside of them that they weigh so much?  There was a lady on the show that carried a bra and an extra shirt just in case.  I’m not THAT bad…but I do carry a bunch of essential stuff:

note: I like to have different bags/pouches to carry my things in just to keep everything slightly more organized.

1) Wallet with all the basic/important stuff

2) Little zip pouch where I keep my gift cards, discount cards and “buy 5 get one free” cards.

3) Pouch that carries coupons, check book, pen, sharpie, stamps, receipts, movie tickets, dental floss, excedrin (and other pills), etc…..

4) Glasses: regular and sun

5) Phone & ear phones, mirror, lip gloss, tweezers, hand cream, mini perfume, 1-3 lipsticks or balms with their liners, lip primer, gum, eye concealer and de-puffer, mini notebook, keys, key ring with frequent buyer cards, baby wipes and a cute hankie for disgusting hot days like the last few ones.

6) Pouch with women stuff

7) See thru pouch (to easily spot everything) with: emergency touch up make up, mini toothpicks, bandaids, disposable soap, emergency stash stomach ache meds and nail file
