Last week I celebrated my birthday! And to help me, my mother and my aunt flew in for a visit.  It was so good to see them and so fun to show them around our town.   This was my aunt’s first visit to the city and she loved it!

La semana pasada celebré mi cumpleaños!! Y mi mamá y mi tía vinieron a ayudarme. Fué super divertido andar por todas partes y me dió muchísimo gusto verlas a las dos.  Mi tía nunca había venido a NYC y le ecantó!!

Macarons, a love story.

{Flavors. Sabores}

After this “vacation”…(I’ve been working and hanging out with my in-laws)….. I’m baaaaack!!  Remember a few weeks ago when I talked about macarons and how we loved them?? Well…last week I got to go to the mecca of macarons: MAISON LADURÉE !!! Now don’t get excited…not the Paris one, but the brand spankin’ new one that just opened in NYC a few weeks ago.  I went with a friend for her belated birthday celebration and, to say we were absolutely giddy doesn’t begin to explain how we felt! We waited in line for about 30 minutes which really isn’t that bad considering that it took that long for us to figure out what flavors we wanted to get.  My favorites were: vanilla, coconut of course and my new favorite, their caramel à la fleur de sel (salted caramel).  Are you salivating yet? Nick and I devoured them!

Después de mis “vacaciones”…..(he estado trabajando duro y aparte vinieron mis suegros de visita)…..estoy de regresooo!  Se acuerdan hace unas semanas cuando les platiqué de los macarrones y como nos encantan?? Pues….la semana pasada me tocó ir a la meca de macarrones: MAISON LADURÉE!!!! No se emocionen….no fuí a Paris, fuí a la nueva que acaba de abrir aquí en NYC hace unas semanas.  Fuí con una amiguita a celebrar su cumpleaños y no saben lo mega emocionadas que estabamos.  Esperamos en la fila como 30 minutos que no estubo tan mal porque nos tomó la media hora completa para decidir que sabores ibamos a comprar.  Mis favoritos fueron: vainilla, coco, y claro mi nuevo favorito, el de caramelo (tipo cajeta) con flor de sal.  Se les cae la baba no? Tan riquísimos que Nick y yo los devoramos!
