Sunday the 7th of February was our first anniversary and to celebrate we took a trip up to Santa Barbara. We stayed at this little B & B called the Cheshire Cat. It was super cute and within walking distance to lots of fun spots. Thanks husband for such a wonderful weekend….it was the perfect combination of love + scrumptious food + relaxation (a very much needed getaway from orange county)!!
I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine’s day!!! I did!! It was such a beautiful day that we got dolled up and went to the park and had a wonderful picnic! It was perfect!! Thanks, I love you husband!
In preparation for Valentine’s day…… Last thursday my friend’s mom ~Tutu~ had a valentine making party at her house. She really went all out to make it a lovely evening. She had an amazing spread of not just snacks, but everything you could want to use for making fun valentine cards. Tutu and her friend Yolanda are little creative geniuses and they can make ANYTHING. They had place cards which were actually candy bags and we each got a package with the basic pieces to create our very own decorative LOVE banner. There were dozens of pretty paper embellishments and lovely ribbons for us to use and there was even a delicious raspberry cake! YUM!
This was my candy bag…..
…here’s my banner and a little basket I made…..
I know I keep saying I’ll get better at this, but I haven’t. I have lots to catch up on….I left off on project 2 and the semester ended and a new one starts this monday and I have yet to show you projects 3 & 4.
For this project I decided to make something that represented my husband and me. I chose NY because that’s where he proposed and I also included fireworks because they’re just magical. The silhouettes are of Nick and myself that we had made at disneyland last year (a favorite pass time) and I simply reduced them, traced them on metal and hand sawed them. They turned out quite good right?
It’s been a while, I know. For my second project I decided to make a birdcage with a cute little birdie in it. In the process, I figured out that I love cutting out small designs since they just look super cute. The requirement for this project was to have 2 types of rivets….however, I suck at riveting and it took me 3 tries, but here’s the end product. We think he’s pretty cute….he’s definitely going on our Christmas tree.
This is the first time ever I’ve made a pork tenderloin and figured it was worthy of a blog. Well, at least a picture. It had a peach sauce and was accompanied by cheesy baked mashers and a side of green beans. It was deeeeeeelicious!
1. Because it’s an american holiday.
2. My mother didn’t want us to.
…but somehow I absolutely love the idea of playing dress up…..especially when it comes to baby outfits. This is my friend Amanda’s little Brooke. She’ll be 2 months old next week and she’s sporting a halloween tutu made by grandma and a onesie that said “I want my mummy!”. Isn’t she CUTE!?!?!?! This was also the first time I saw her with her eyes actually open.
